Exciting news!
I'm delighted to have been offered a place on the MSc Psychology and Trauma (Child and Adolescent route) at UCL, in collaboration with the Anna Freud Centre, starting September 2026.

Meet Lisa
Hi, I'm Lisa, a counsellor offering kind, warm, compassionate support for adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or carrying more than they realise.
I work online across the UK and face-to-face from my therapy room in central Grimsby, supporting people locally in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the wider North East Lincolnshire area.
At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy isn't about becoming a different person. It's about developing a kinder relationship with yourself, relating differently to life's challenges, and moving towards a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with what matters most to you.
Whether we're sitting quietly with something difficult, exploring patterns that keep you stuck, or finding new ways to respond to thoughts and feelings, my aim is to offer a calm, accepting space where you can be fully yourself.
My Approach as a Person-Centred Therapist
My work is rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. As a person‑centred counsellor working in Grimsby and online across the UK, I won't analyse you, direct you, or tell you what you "should" do. Instead, I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can explore whatever feels heavy, confusing, or difficult at your own pace.
I bring curiosity, compassion, and gentle challenge when it's helpful. Together, we can explore the patterns you've learned, the emotions you're carrying, and the parts of yourself that may have been overlooked or pushed aside.
Alongside my person-centred foundation, I also draw on principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means that, when appropriate, we may explore different ways of relating to difficult thoughts and feelings, developing greater self-compassion, awareness and flexibility.
Sometimes this involves reflection and conversation. Sometimes it may involve mindfulness, metaphor, creative exercises or gentle experiential work. My aim is not to help you become a different person, but to help you reconnect with yourself and move towards a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with what matters most to you.
Why This Work Matters to Me
My interest in counselling is rooted in my own experiences of pain, uncertainty, and feeling lost at times in my life. I know what it's like to carry things quietly, to feel overwhelmed, or to lose sight of yourself amidst life's challenges.
Those experiences didn't give me the answers to other people's struggles, but they did teach me the value of compassion, connection and having a space where you can be fully yourself without judgement.
They also shaped the way I show up in the therapy room: with warmth, curiosity and a deep respect for the courage it takes to ask for support.
While your story is uniquely yours, my own experiences help me appreciate how difficult life can sometimes feel and how powerful it can be to have someone alongside you as you navigate it.
At the heart of my work is a belief that people are not broken. Even in our most difficult moments, there is often wisdom in our pain and the possibility of moving towards a life that feels more meaningful, connected and aligned with what matters most.

What Guides My Practice
At the heart of my practice is human connection. I believe that meaningful change happens within a relationship built on trust, compassion, respect and emotional safety.
I aim to create a space where you can slow down, reflect, express yourself openly and explore whatever feels important to you, without judgement or pressure.
While conversation is often an important part of therapy, I don't believe that healing always happens through words alone. Depending on your needs and preferences, we may also use mindfulness, metaphor, creative exploration or gentle experiential exercises to help bring awareness to patterns, thoughts, and feelings that can be difficult to describe.
I am guided by curiosity rather than judgement, compassion rather than criticism, and the belief that people are not broken or in need of fixing.
My role is not to tell you who to be or what choices to make. Instead, I walk alongside you as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, relate differently to life's challenges, and move towards what matters most to you.
You are invited to lead the process in whatever way feels right, whether through words, silence, creativity, reflection or simply taking things one step at a time. Together, we create a space that honours your pace, your experiences and your unique way of being in the world.
Qualifications, Ethics & What You Can Expect
I'm a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an Accredited Registrant with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.).
I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, which means that your wellbeing, autonomy and confidentiality are always at the centre of our work. You're welcome to view my NCPS Accredited Register profile and my BACP directory listing for additional reassurance.
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Counselling and regularly engage in supervision and ongoing professional development. My practice is fully insured and ICO registered.
In our sessions, you can expect warmth, honesty, compassion and a genuine commitment to understanding your experience. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, shame, overwhelm, or simply feeling stuck, we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you.
My aim is not to provide quick fixes or tell you what to do, but to support you in developing greater awareness, self-compassion and flexibility as you move towards a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with what matters most.
