Working Together
What Therapy Looks Like
Counselling For A More Meaningful Life
Therapy can offer a space to slow down, take a breath, and make sense of what you're carrying.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself, or navigating a specific challenge, we begin wherever you are. You don't need to arrive with a plan, a diagnosis, or the right words. Together, we create a space where you can explore your experiences with curiosity, compassion and honesty.
As a counsellor based in Grimsby and working online across the UK, I offer therapy shaped by your pace, your needs, and what feels possible in each moment.
Below you'll find more information about what counselling with me is like, how we work together, and what you can expect from our session.
What You Can Expect in Our Sessions
Sessions with me are calm, collaborative and grounded in genuine human connection.
You're welcome to bring whatever is present for you - thoughts, feelings, memories, uncertainty, silence, or simply a sense that something doesn't feel quite right. There is no right or wrong way to be here.
Some people talk freely.
Some pause often.
Some arrive knowing exactly what they want to explore.
Others aren't quite sure where to begin.
All of this is welcome.
My role is to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, hear yourself more clearly, and begin to make sense of your experience
Sometimes our work may involve conversation and reflection. At other times, we might gently explore patterns, emotions, body sensations, values, or different ways of relating to difficult thoughts and feelings. Occasionally, I may invite you to try a metaphor, mindfulness exercise or experiential activity if it feels relevant and helpful.
There is no pressure and no fixed agenda. We work together at a pace that feels right for you, focusing on what matters most in your life.

How We Work Together
Our work is collaborative. You bring your lived experience, and I bring a grounded, compassionate and curious presence. Together, we explore what feels important, what feels painful, and what feels possible.
Some sessions may feel reflective and gentle. Others may feel emotional, clarifying, challenging or quietly transformative. There is no right way for therapy to unfold.
You set the pace, and I walk alongside you, offering support, curiosity and gentle challenge when it feels helpful.
I won't push you into places you're not ready to go. Equally, I won't sit back passively. I'll help you notice patterns, explore what's showing up in the present moment, make sense of difficult experiences, and reconnect with your own values, strengths and inner wisdom.
At times, our work may involve conversation and reflection. At other times we might use metaphor, mindfulness, creative exploration or experiential exercises to help something become clearer or more meaningful.
This collaborative way of working is at the heart of my counselling practice, both in Grimsby and online across the UK.
My Therapeutic Approach
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship.
As a person‑centred counsellor, I believe that meaningful change happens when we feel genuinely seen, heard and accepted. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, without pressure to be anything other than who you are.
Alongside this person-centred foundation, I draw on ideas from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach that has deeply influenced the way I understand emotional wellbeing and human suffering.
Rather than trying to get rid of difficult thoughts and feelings, ACT encourages us to develop a different relationship with them - one that creates more space, awareness and flexibility.
Together we might explore:
- How to notice difficult thoughts and emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them
- How to respond to yourself with greater compassion when life feels difficult
- What truly matters to you and the kind of person you want to be
- Small, meaningful steps towards a life that feels more connected, purposeful and aligned with your values
You don't need to learn techniques or become a different version of yourself.
The aim is not perfection. It's developing the flexibility to carry life's challenges more gently while continuing to move towards what matters most.
Whether we're working online or in person, my approach remains the same: compassionate, collaborative and grounded in the belief that you already possess far more strength, wisdom and resilience than you may realise.
Choosing What Works For You
I offer both online sessions and in-person counselling, giving you the flexibility to choose what feels most comfortable and supportive for you.
Some people appreciate the convenience and privacy of meeting online from their own space. Others value the experience of stepping away from their everyday life and into a calm, dedicated therapy room. Both options are held with the same care, presence and confidentiality.
My therapy room is based in central Grimsby (DN32), and I work with clients locally as well as online across the UK.
Sessions are available Monday to Friday between 4:00pm and 9:00pm, and Saturdays between 12:00pm and 5:00pm. I can also offer some flexibility around these hours where possible to support different work patterns, commitments and routines.
Whatever format you choose, my aim is to create a space where you feel safe, supported and able to bring whatever is important to you.
What You Can Expect From Me
You can rely on me to offer:
- Warmth, honesty, and respect
- A clam, grounded and compassionate presence
- A space where you don't have to mask, perform or have all the answers
- Curiosity, collaboration and gentle challenge when it feels helpful
- Professional, ethical practice as a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
My role isn't to tell you who you should be or what you should do.
My role is to help you understand yourself more deeply, relate differently to difficult experiences, and reconnect with what matters most to you.

You don't need the perfect words to begin.
You just need a willingness to start where you are.
