Working Together - What Therapy Looks Like
Therapy is a space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore whatever feels heavy or unclear.
As a counsellor based in Grimsby and working online across the UK, I offer a space shaped by your pace, your needs, and what feels possible in each moment. You don't need to arrive with a plan or know exactly what you want to say - we begin wherever you are.
What You Can Expect in Our Sessions
Sessions with me are calm, steady, and grounded in genuine human connection. You're welcome to bring whatever is present for you - thoughts, feelings, memories, silence, uncertainty. There is no right or wrong way to be here.
Some people talk freely.
Some pause often.
Some don't know where to start.
All of this is okay.
My role is to offer a warm, non-judgemental presence where you can hear yourself more clearly and begin to understand what you need.
If you'd like to know more about how sessions work, you’re welcome to explore my Fees page or get in touch with any questions.
What Therapy Can Help With
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be navigating something specific, or you may simply feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of yourself. Together, we can explore whatever you're carrying, including:
-
anxiety, worry, or a sense of being on edge
-
grief, loss, or the ache of something that has changed
-
low mood, hopelessness, or feeling disconnected from yourself
-
shame, self-criticism, or feeling "not enough"
-
trauma, past experiences, or memories that still feel alive in the body
-
relationship difficulties or patterns that keep repeating
-
stress, burnout, or emotional exhaustion
-
life transitions, uncertainty, or a sense of being lost
You don't need to have the "right" words or a clear reason for coming. If something feels heavy, confusing, or too much to hold alone, therapy can offer a steady place to begin.
I support clients in Grimsby and online across the UK with these experiences and more.
You Don't Need a Diagnosis or a Crisis to Begin
You don't have to reach breaking point before seeking support. Many people come to therapy simply because something feels "off", heavy, or harder than it used to. You might notice you're coping, but not really living. You might feel flat, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure why things feel so difficult.
Therapy can be a place to pause before things escalate - a space to understand yourself more deeply, make sense of what's shifting, and reconnect with what matters to you. You're welcome here whether you're navigating something specific or simply sensing that you're not quite yourself.
There is no threshold you need to meet, no label you need to carry, and no crisis you need to justify. If something inside you is asking for attention, that's enough.
Whether you’re seeking counselling in Grimsby or online therapy from elsewhere in the UK, you’re welcome to begin wherever you are.
How We Work Together
Our work is collaborative. You bring your lived experience, and I bring a grounded, compassionate presence. Together, we explore what feels important, what feels painful, and what feels possible.
Some sessions may feel reflective and gentle, Others may feel emotional, clarifying, or quietly transformative. You set the pace, and I follow your lead while offering support, curiosity, and steady guidance.
I won't push you into places you're not ready to go. I also won't sit back passively - I'll walk alongside you, helping you notice patterns, make meaning and reconnect with your own inner wisdom.
This collaborative way of working is at the heart of my counselling practice here in Grimsby and in my online sessions across the UK.
My Therapeutic Approach
As a person‑centred counsellor, my focus is always on offering a grounded, compassionate presence.
My work is rooted in person-centred therapy, which means you are at the heart of everything we do. I offer warmth, acceptance, and a space where you can be fully yourself without judgement.
I also draw on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports you in:
-
noticing difficult thoughts and feelings without becoming overwhelmed
-
understanding what matters to you
-
taking small, meaningful steps toward a life that feels more aligned
ACT is gentle, practical, and deeply compassionate - it meets you exactly where you are.
How We Meet
I offer both online sessions and in-person sessions in central Grimsby, giving you the freedom to choose what feels most comfortable and supportive for you. Some people prefer the ease and privacy of meeting from home; others value the grounding of being in a calm, dedicated therapy space. Both options are held with the same care, presence and confidentiality.
Sessions are available Monday-Friday between 4:00-9:00pm, and Saturdays 12:00-5:00pm, with some flexibility around these hours to support different needs and routines.
I offer counselling in Grimsby and online therapy across the UK, so you can choose the setting that feels right for you.
What You Can Expect From Me
You can rely on me to offer:
-
warmth, honesty, and respect
-
a steady, grounded presence
-
a space where you don't have to mask or perform
-
gentle curiosity rather than judgement
-
professional, ethical practice as a Registered Member (MBACP)
My role isn't to tell you who you "should" be - it's to help you hear yourself more clearly.

What Clients Say About Working With Me
Hearing how others have experienced therapy can offer a sense of reassurance and help you imagine what it might feel like for you. These words are shared with permission, and each reflects the steady, compassionate space I aim to offer in every session.
"Amazing service. I felt so relaxed and safe. I was stuggling with my feelings and you helped me put them into perspective. Afterwards, I felt a weight lifted. It's like you had a magic wand."
"Lisa has truly been a blessing in my life. When I first started therapy, I was carrying so much pain from my past and didn't know how to process it. Lisa created a space where I felt completely safe to open up and be honest about what I was feeling. She's helped me understand my emotions, work through my trauma, and start to see myself with more kindness and hope. What I appreciate most about Lisa is her genuine care - she listens without judgement and always seems to know how to guide me forward. Thanks to her, I've learned to let go of things that once held me back and to believe that healing is possible. I'm so grateful for everything she's helped me uncover and the strength she's helped me find."
